I'm on the right

Hey Everyone!

I’m Beth… the one who tries NOT to flood your inbox but DOES want you to be “in the know” so you can ACT! Obviously everyone isn’t going to be inclined or available to do EVERYTHING, so this way you can do what you’re passionate about. If we’re missing something… LET US KNOW! It’s so important your heart for justice has an outlet, but don’t be afraid to delve into something new… ya never know!

So, a snippet about me… I’m from New England, specifically New Hampshire, 40 minutes north of Boston. I love things that are beautiful and full of inspiration. I love food and how it explains a culture. As much as I spend time with people, I need my personal recharge time where I read, walk, bike, journal, paint my nails, pot a plant-hehe, anything peaceful and exploratory/creative. I LOVE traveling, whether to a new city or overseas. New experiences really energize me.

In New Hampshire I was involved with a lot of various outreaches there, starting an English as a Second Language (ESL) program for refugees in our area, a Friday night coffeehouse for local homeless at a local shelter, spa days at a local nursing home, and overseas missions to Ukraine.

I split my undergrad, starting at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma where I wrote and taught a Business English curriculum and did private tutoring at a local language institute for international students and business persons. It was at Oral Roberts I first came into contact with IJM. I was a chaplain and took my girls to a screening of the IJM documentary and was so moved myself, I applied the next semester to IJM HQ  and Regent’s DC campus thinking I could intern with IJM and do school “on the side”. Well, the DC campus closed and IJM rejected my application because I was still an undergraduate student. However, the Virginia Beach campus accepted me, took ALL my credits and here I am.

I started as the prayer coordinator of this IJM chapter because that’s what makes IJM unique. They are unashamedly a Christian organization (the entire place shuts down for an hour every day to pray) yet well-respected by the “secular” institutions surrounding them. That is my heart, for the Church to become a legitimate and active resource for their societies.

Currently, I am pursuing a  degree in Government, working as the Special Events Coordinator for the School of Undergraduate Studies, and here with IJM- Regent!

In the future, I would like to be a bridge of information and action between victims of injustice and their rescuers–WHOEVER they may be, specifically in the areas of overall poverty, hunger, and trafficking.

I am so excited about this year. We have a ton of ideas we want to kick off and get you  involved in and we want your input too!! Please make it a priority to come to our monthly General Body Meetings, and for anything you think of in between, shoot me an email: ijm@regent.edu.

I hope to meet you ALL this year!

All His,
Beth
